My local spoons
My local spoons is dark, dingy, sticky, smelly
Too hot, too loud, too busy
The building is too old
The chairs aren't very comfy
The lights flicker
The food is cold
Yet, the people that come in here they are always Gold
When I need inspiration
And I'm struggling to write
I can always rely on the regulars
It's 8:00 a.m. but they're on their second pint You've got the ones who cough and splutter
Struggling for air
The best friends who meet every week complaining that life's not fair
But just occasionally
There'll be a shining star in the dark
And they will get to feature in my book
And leave a mark
So if you see me write
Don't assume you're safe
Because I have more fun in my local spoons
So go and visit the places that you hate
